Amazon, Finally, Now Has a ‘Get Book’ Button in Its iOS Kindle App

Should apple have allowed purchase of kindle books on the web since the beginning?

John Gruber from Daring Fireball on Amazon, Finally, Now Has a ‘Get Book’ Button in Its iOS Kindle App:

I’ve also argued consistently that Apple should allow from-app purchases to freely go to the web. Tap a button or link, leave the app and go to the web, and make the purchases there. Then go back to the app and the app can sync up what you just purchased. Done. Simple.

There’s nothing simple about sending a user to a website to make a purchase. Non-tech-savvy users have all sorts of weird setups, and they often don’t know what’s going on when an app suddenly jumps to another app unexpectedly, especially when the expected behavior of a button is to push it and obtain the product.

Common problems often range from “I don’t know what’s going on on the screen” to “I don’t know what I’ve touched that started this” to “It opened in Safari, but I use Google Chrome, and I have my session open in the Google app, and I don’t remember my password” – this one is from someone I know, and I discovered it recently.

What is simple is to push a button, wait while your Face ID is recognized, and then have access to your book or whatever you bought. That’s simple.
